Directory Submission Tips

Submitting websites to directories on a regular basis can be a real time consumer. I’ve tweaked Roboform to help me do this job a lot faster. If you don’t have Roboform, it’s an autofill password keeper that’s encrypted, a knock-your-socks-off form filler, and an all around serious tool. And of course – no adware or spyware. It’s a clean tool that works with all the main browsers (IE, Firefox, Netscape, Mozilla).

Here’s how you can use RoboForm to autofill directory submissions:

In Roboform, create a new user (we’ll call it Websites in this example).
Now in Websites, create new Identities.
Create one new identity for each website (examples: AffSite#1, AffSite#2, etc.)
For each Identity, fill out the cards. All you need to do is put your name in the Person card (some directory submissions ask for your name), and then go into the Custom tab and fill out your site’s information in there.

Here’s an example of the information I’m using for my custom cards:

Field Name: url
Field Value: http://www.AffSite#1.com
Other Match Strings: website

Field Name: title
Field Value: Aff Site #1
Other Match Strings: your site name

Field Name description
Field Value: Visit Aff Site #1 for all your coupon needs. Hundreds of coupon codes available.
Other Match Strings: short desc (press enter) text (press enter) a short description of your website
*When you have more than one string you want Roboform to catch, you need to seperate them with by pressing enter

Field Name: the url of your reciprocal link
Field Value: leave blank if you don’t use a recip or enter your recip link
Other Match Strings: reciprocal link

Field Name: keywords
Field Value: coupons, coupon, coupon code, bargains,
Other Match Strings: leave blank

Field Name: email
Field Value: spam@affsite#1.com
Other Match Strings: leave blank

*make sure to save all your cards

Organizing Tips For Monitoring Your Web Pages In Search Engines

This technique works in multi-tab browsers such as:

Crazy Browser

FireFox

If you don’t multi-tab browse – ummmm – START! đŸ˜† Your online surfing will never be the same. Much much better.

Tip:

Create the following folders in your Favorites or Bookmark section:

Create a folder in your Favorites called:

Site Check

Now create a folder in Site Check called:

Affiliate Site #1 (use your website name)

Now create a folder in Affiliate Site #1 called:

Indexed

For each of the following search engines, enter the search terms given (replace yourdomain.com with your own domain name), then bookmark the search results given for each:

Search Engine: AllTheWeb
Enter Search Term: domain:yourdomain.com
Save results page in your Site Check: Affiliate Site #1: Indexed folder, name the bookmark “AllTheWeb”

Search Engine: AltaVista
Enter Search Term: host:yourdomain.com
Save results page in your Site Check: Affiliate Site #1: Indexed folder, name the bookmark “AltaVista”

Search Engine: Google
Enter Search Term: site:yourdomain.com inurl:yourdomain.com
Save results page in your Site Check: Affiliate Site #1: Indexed folder, name the bookmark “Google”

Search Engine: HotBot
Enter Search Term: site:yourdomain.com
Save results page in your Site Check: Affiliate Site #1: Indexed folder, name the bookmark “HotBot”

Search Engine: MSN
Enter Search Term: site:yourdomain.com
Save results page in your Site Check: Affiliate Site #1: Indexed folder, name the bookmark “MSN”

Search Engine: Yahoo
Enter Search Term: site:yourdomain.com
Save results page in your Site Check: Affiliate Site #1: Indexed folder, name the bookmark “Yahoo”

Bookmark all the search results pages with the above engines and terms in your Site Check: Affiliate Site #1: Indexed folder. You just need to bookmark the first page of each search query.

Now whenever you want to check the amount of pages each search engine has indexed for Affiliate Site #1, you just need to go to that particular favorites folder (we called it Index) and click:

Open All Links in Crazy Browser or Open In Tabs in FireFox

This will open all the pages which were saved search queries in all the search engines you bookmarked in that folder for a fast check. No more going to each engine to make the query – just mass open all the bookmarks in the folder.

Create a folder for each of your websites inside the main bookmark folder “Site Check” with the above bookmark structure, repeat the steps given for each website and you can have all your websites search engine checks right at your fingertips.

Do you want to keep track of who the engines see linking to you?
