I purchased Useful File Utilities awhile ago to see what I could do with all those affiliate product codes when hand building product pages. I like to customize the code a bit to fit better with my site designs.
I do use a text editor that will mass search and replace several files at once, but I have to make each change one at a time. With Useful File Utilities, I use the plugin Batch Replacer to configure *all the changes* I want to make, select all the files I want changed, click a button and bam! Every change is made in every file.
Here’s what I’m talking about. Say I want to change 4 different elements from each product code I take from CJ:
<table border="0" width="600" cellpadding="5" cellspacing="0">
<td valign="top" >
<p><b><font size="4">CJ Merchant Product</font></b></p>
<input type="submit" value="Buy">
To something like this:
<table border="0" width="500" cellpadding="10" cellspacing="5">
<td valign="middle" >
<h3>CJ Merchant Product</h3>
<input type="submit" value="Click Here">
Before I had to do a search and replace separately for each of those 4 changes. With Useful File Utilities here’s what I do:
- I make one file per domain with all the changes configured specifically for that domain (I don’t make the same changes to aff codes across all my sites)
- Save the above Batch Replacer file (it’s a free plugin) to use now and forever
- When I add aff codes to my webpages, I open the Batch Replacer File for the domain I want, select the files/web pages that I want changed, click a button
- My work is done–all the changes are made.
It’s simply a matter of one click of a button and CRUNCH, all my code is changed to the way I want it.
There are more features to this software that I haven’t looked at, it’s pretty much a swiss army knife for files :lol:.
Price? I know we’re used to spending big piles of cash for something that saves us time and/or money–but this software is just $29.99. No joke. It’s also softpedia certified as having no adware/spyware/viruses.
