haha Chrissie ! I have another couple book reviews waiting to be posted, beware ;). And btw - *do not* use the wishlist feature on bookcloseouts. Mine is packed atm and every time I turn around lately I'm getting an email: your book is in! I've put three orders in this week alone!

I think social networking and the blog space have helped to catapult htat type of thinking forward.

I agree Danay - I was thinking 'blog blog blog', social bookmarking and all that jazz while reading the book.

I'm glad to see you found the Cluetrain. It's a great book and part of hte must read list for interactive marketers.

I have to agree with you all, the cluetrain does apply more today than it did in 2000. I think social networking and the blog space have helped to catapult htat type of thinking forward.

Best of luck to us all!

I think I might have to stop reading your blog!!! You are very, very bad for my book addiction ;) I have been spending too much time on bookcloseouts.com too and it's all your fault LOL

But seriously, I love a good book and this definitely meets the criteria. Books, books and more books - now to find the time to read them all!

While I think that there is still money to be made using non-Cluetrain tactics, I think the most successful companies in the coming years will follow the Cluetrain way of doing business.

ITA with this James.

I think sometimes we can 'overthink' stuff and make things more complicated than they have to be. If we carve this up and just look at affiliate marketing and some of the work that we do online:

Take a look at sites wrapped 100% around affiliate product pages and nothing else going on - do they make money? Sure they do.

Is it a site that has longevity or the ability to be a BIG BANG on the net that people everywhere are freely linking to, sharing and discussing? Not likely. At least I haven't seen anything or figured a way yet :P. But these sites can and do make money for us right now. Not cluetrain stuff - but anything wrong with keeping fingers in that pie? Not at all.

For long term, for buzz worthy, to dodge SE algo changes, to reach higher for success online - Cluetrain is on track for success today *and* the future ;).

I loved it and the book was a perfect fit for where I'm looking to go right now.

I am a big Cluetrain fan as well. For something that was written so long ago, I think that the Manifesto is even more relevant now than ever before.

Adopting the Cluetrain mindset is not an easy thing to do for many businesses. Many of us have become accustomed to treating customers like customers, not people. A majority of companies communicate to people with bizarre “corporate speak that was designed to sound impressive but really tells us nothing. How many times have you heard about someone’s “turnkey solution?

While I think that there is still money to be made using non-Cluetrain tactics, I think the most successful companies in the coming years will follow the Cluetrain way of doing business.

This goes for affiliates as well. Luckily, affiliates do not have to try to get thousands of people to buy into the Cluetrain way of business. The only person you have to convince is yourself.
