Google PR Update Happening
Here’s where I’m at so far:
I’m noticing anything uploaded on or before June 19th has some PR showing. Pages uploaded after that are blank.
My directories are slowly moving, all at a PR 3 now (one was a 4, one was a 3, one was a 1 in the last update). Two are showing PR inside the categories, one isn’t. But too early to say yet if the third got missed this time or not.
My ‘thin affiliate’ sites are mainly a 2, the odd one a 3.
My content type sites are pretty much all at 4, one is still a dismal 2 though.
Nothing really too chaotic on my end.

I like your blog, been coming here for a few months now. Question for you, maybe you can answer it. My content site is 2 months old and this is its first PR update (awww). Anyway, the home page where most of the inbound links go to is a 2 but the majority of the other pages are 3’s, even the links page. Do you know how that works? Doesn’t make much sense to me.

Hi Jon,
Do all your inside pages link back to the home page?
It’s a bit complicated (to me) and it could be a few different things.
If your home page is linking to all your inside pages:
hp links to (1p, 2p, 3p, 4p) the PR from the home page is being filtered through to the 4 pages.
If your inside pages are linking back to the home page, it gets juice back. But if those 4 inside pages link to 100 different places each, the PR value it gives back to the homepage is quite low (PR is shared between 100 pages).
But if your inside pages aren’t linking to the home page, they don’t pass anything back. This would include juice from outside sites pointing to your inside pages.
Your home page could actually be a 2.98 in PR (I don’t know if that value is correct btw, but you get the idea), and it will display as a 2
And your inside pages could be a 3.10, yet display as a 3.
So it could just be a tiny difference. Something juiced your inside pages that isn’t filtering back to the home page.
Maybe you have a good inbound link to one of your inside pages that’s linking to your other inside pages but not linking to your home page? Are all your inside pages linking to your home page?
Or it could be an outside link to your homepage is not being counted yet, some sort of delay in passing PR.
I’ve read about this a few times (inside pages showing higher PR than index page). I don’t know that there was an answer as to why, just a lot of ‘could be’ stuff.
I think as long as none of the pages show gray - you’re good

Thanks. Yeah, everypage on the site links back to the home page at least once. I do have outside links to the 2nd tier pages but not nearly as many as the ones coming to the home page. Who knows?=) I guess as long as the articles and pages with my affiliate links have decent inbound links and PR I shouldn’t care what the home page is doing.

It is a puzzle isn’t it Jon? Sorry I couldn’t provide any concrete answers.
