A host will post a carnival subject such as Humor or a political debate. Bloggers can then send their own related articles to the host for inclusion. On a specific date the host blog will post all the submmissions as a "carnival". This works as a viral mechanism. Each blogger that participates in the carnival will announce to their reader base. This action in-turn drives traffic to the carnival host blog. It's like writing a report with other peoples post as the content. Plus the contributor gets a highly relevent inbound link. www.blogcarnival.com is the site I use to post and participate in carnivals.
